Games: Da Ga

               Da Ga

This game is from Ghana and "Da Ga" means "Boa Constrictor" a snake.  In the United Stated boa constrictors are found rarely, only as pets.

Create an area on the ground about 10 feet square as the home of the snake.

A player is chosen to stand inside the area, and the others surround the area.

The first player reaches out to touch any one of the other children.  The two hold hands and then reach out (using only the free hand) to touch other players.  Each child touched joins the Snake by holding hands, and the Snake grows in length.

The surrounding children can sing or dance or otherwise move about to avoid being tagged but must stay close to the area's perimeter.  As more players are touched, they become part of the growing Snake.

The last player remaining begins to form a new Snake in the next game.

Ages 8-12
